Read on to know the importance of Republic Day:

26th January is celebrated as Republic Day in India. It marks the day in 1950 when the Constitution of India came into effect, replacing the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India and thus, making India a republic. On this day, a grand parade is held in the capital, New Delhi, which is attended by dignitaries from all over the world, along with a large number of people. The parade showcases India's cultural and military heritage. It is a national holiday in India and is celebrated across the country with patriotic fervor.
The Constitution of India, which came into effect on January 26, 1950, lays down the framework of the political system in India, including the fundamental rights and duties of citizens, the powers and functions of the government and the relationship between the different branches of the government. It is a document that has been instrumental in shaping the destiny of the world's largest democracy.
The main Republic Day parade takes place in the national capital, New Delhi, where a grand parade is held at Rajpath, which is attended by dignitaries from all over the world along with a large number of people. The parade showcases India's cultural and military heritage, and the President of India unfurls the national flag. This is followed by a display of floats representing different states of India, showcasing their cultural heritage.
In conclusion, 26th January is a day of national pride and patriotic fervor in India, as it marks the day when India became a republic and adopted its own constitution. It is a day to commemorate the sacrifices of freedom fighters, and to reaffirm our commitment to the values and principles of the Constitution. Happy Republic Day!
