KIQ is an annual quiz conducted by Oakridge International School, Einstein Campus, Bachupally, Hyderabad. It is an exclusive quiz for school students, being conducted in multiple cities, multiple categories and with exciting prizes to be won at the Grand Finale to be held in Hyderabad. How to participate:
1. Team Size: Teams can be formed with 2 members
2. Eligibility: There are 3 categories under which teams can enrol. Sub-Junior – Grades 4 and 5
b. Junior – Grades 6, 7 and 8
c. Senior – Grades 9 and 10
3. Registration Fee: Rs 500 per team is the registration fee. Teams can register online at oakridge.in/OAKIQ and online payment can be made. Spot registration at the venue is also available.
4. City prelims, Venues and Dates: City level preliminary rounds will be conducted in the following 4 cities - Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mohali, Visakhapatnam. One written rounds will be conducted in each city. All registered participants can participate in Round 1 which would be a written one. Top 8 teams from each category would then move to Round 2 which would be conducted by a Quiz Master. Please note that no more than 2 teams per school will be selected for Round 2. Top 2 teams from each category would qualify to move to Finals to be held in Hyderabad. City Venue Date

6. Travel and Accommodation:
Teams travelling to Hyderabad for Finals would be provided accommodation in double sharing for 2 nights. Travel to Hyderabad would be the participant’s responsibility.

9. Format:
Prelims (All categories)
• There will be a total of 25 questions in the prelims. All questions will appear on screen.
• Quizmaster will read out the questions and give relevant clues when necessary
• A mixture of text and A/V questions in the prelims
• All questions must be attempted in writing by the students
• Students will be given the answer sheets at the event
• Students must get their own pen and pads for the prelims
• Starred questions will be used to break ties (all rules will be explained by the QM)
• The top 8 teams from the prelims will qualify for the finals on stage
• A maximum of two teams per school can qualify for the finals of the quiz
City Finals and Grand Finale (All categories)
• Approximately 40 questions in the finals
• 5 rounds in the finals
• 2 rounds on infinite bounce passing format
• 2 rounds on the buzzer
• 1 special round in each city
• There will be a mixture of text and A/V questions in the finals
• Separate tie-breaker questions will be used to break ties
• Top two teams from the finals qualify for the Grand Finale in Hyderabad on Jan 21st, 2017
• The National Finals will broadly follow the city level format with some special rounds, which we will intimate later

10. Rules:
a) The quiz will have the following three categories: Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior. b) The Sub-Junior category will have students from Grades 4 & 5 participating; Junior category will have students from Grade 6, 7 & 8 participating; Senior category will have students from Grades 9 & 10 participating. c) Each team in each category must consist of two participants. The two participants must be from the same school. d) The team for the Sub – Junior category should have a student each from Grade 4 and Grade 5
e) The team for the Junior category should have one student each from Grade 6; the other student can be from Grade 7 or Grade 8. f) The team for the Senior category should have a student each from Grade 9 and Grade 10
g) Participants must bring pens/pencils; Paper will be provided. Writing pads or similar objects to keep papers on, must be brought by students. h) The quiz will cover topic of general interest and requires no specific preparatory effort. Questions will cover topics including, but not limited to current affairs, sports, science, social sciences, politics, entertainment, arts and much more. i) A common written preliminary round for each category for all teams will be held to select 8 teams for the finals. j) A maximum of 2 teams per school per category can qualify for the finals. k) Starred questions will be used to break ties in the preliminary round. In case teams are tied on the starred questions, we will employ the method of Sudden Death, where the team that has written the first wrong answer gets eliminated. l) Answer sheets of the preliminary round will be evaluated by the organizing team and requests for checking the same by participants/accompanying adults will not be entertained. m) The finals, held on the same day following the preliminary round, will be on-stage and have a combination of written and oral questions; various rounds in the finals will have different rules and scoring systems, which will be explained during the quiz. n) The top two teams from the city level rounds from each category will qualify for the Grand Finale in Hyderabad on January 21,2017. o) A bonafide certificate from the school / School ID Card is a must for all participants. Non-production will result in disqualification from further rounds of the quiz. p) Prizes will be given for the top three teams in the quiz. Certificates will be awarded to all the participants. q) In all cases, the decisions of the organizers for all administrative issues, and the decisions of the quizmaster for all quiz-related issues will be final and binding.
