In our Montessori classrooms, thereโs something magical about watching little hands trace over the sandpaper letters. These Montessori tactile letter boards (also known as sandpaper letters) are a foundational tool for teaching children letter recognition and formation through a multi-sensory approach. They help children connect the visual, auditory, and tactile aspects of learning letters.
This is what learning looks like learning at their own pace-curious, joyful and full of wonder.๐๐

The knobbed cylinders are a great Montessori material for helping children develop their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and understanding of sizes and measurements. At first, children use them to visually recognize and match cylinders of different heights and diameters. Over time, as they become more familiar with the material, they can begin to rely more on their sense of touch, which enhances their tactile discrimination and concentration skills. Itโs a wonderful way for children to explore both their visual and sensory perception!
