Advantages and Disadvantages of Chain Drive over Belt or Rope Drive:-
Following are the advantages and disadvantages of chain drive over belt or rope drive:
Advantages:-
1.As no slip takes place during chain drive, hence perfect velocity ratio is obtained.
2.Since the chains are made of metal, therefore they occupy less space in width than a belt or
rope drive.
3.It may be used for both long as well as short distances.
4.It gives a high transmission efficiency (upto 98 percent).
5.It gives less load on the shafts.
6.It has the ability to transmit motion to several shafts by one chain only.
7.It transmits more power than belts.
8.It permits high speed ratio of 8 to 10 in one step.
9.It can be operated under adverse temperature and atmospheric conditions.
Disadvantages:-
1.The production cost of chains is relatively high.
2.The chain drive needs accurate mounting and careful maintenance, particularly lubrication
and slack adjustment.
3.The chain drive has velocity fluctuations especially when unduly stretched.

Engineering !
The K-10000 tower crane is the largest in the world. It is capable of lifting 132 tons and 91 tons maximum load at a maximum distance of 100 meters.
Danish brand manufactured by Kroll, once fixed to the ground resists winds of 240km / h despite being 120 meters high. It gives an idea of his formidable structural strength, thanks in part to 3 groups of checks totaling 223 tons.
Amazing Engineering...!!!

Turbochargers:-
When people talk about race cars or high-performanc e sports cars, the topic of turbochargers usually comes up. Turbochargers also appear on large diesel engines. A turbo can significantly boost an engine's horsepower without significantly increasing its weight, which is the huge benefit that makes turbo so popular!
In this article, we'll learn how a turbocharger increases the power output of an engine while surviving extreme operating conditions. We'll also learn how ceramic turbine bladesand ball bearings help turbochargers do their job even better. Turbochargers are a type of forced induction system. They compress the air flowing into the engine. The advantage of compressing the air is that it lets the engine squeeze more air into a cylinder, and more air means that more fuel can be added. Therefore, you get more power from each explosion in each cylinder. A turbocharged engine produces more power overall than the same engine without the charging. This can significantly improve the power-to-weight ratio for the engine. In order to achieve this boost, the turbocharger uses the exhaust flow from the engine to spin a turbine, which in turn spins an air pump. The turbine in the turbocharger spins at speeds of up to 150,000 rotations per minute (rpm) -- that's about 30 times faster than most car engines can go. And since it is hooked up to the exhaust, the temperatures in the turbine are also very high.
