Inauguration of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Student Chapter

Guru Nanak University proudly marked the successful inauguration of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (IEEE CIS) Student Chapter (Chapter Code: SBC60237593B) on 23rd September 2026 at the Ratan Tata Auditorium.

Organized by the University Institute of Emerging Technologies (UIEMT), the chapter provides a dedicated platform for students to explore Computational Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and emerging areas of intelligent systems under the aegis of IEEE.

The occasion was graced by Dr. Athota Kavitha, Vice Chair, IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, Hyderabad Section, as the Chief Guest. She delivered an insightful presentation and conducted the Core-Team Badging Ceremony, formally recognizing the newly appointed office bearers of the IEEE CIS Student Chapter.

Prof. (Dr.) C. Kalairasan, Rector, Guru Nanak University, addressed the gathering and congratulated the organizing team on the establishment of the chapter.

The University extends its sincere gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Harish Kundra, Director, UIEMT, for his valuable guidance and support, and to Dr. Athota Kavitha for her distinguished presence and contribution to the event.

A GRAND BEGINNING TO THE NATIONAL SPORTS MEET 2026! 🏆

The Sardar Tavinder Singh Kohli Memorial National Sports Meet 2026 was grandly inaugurated on 10 September 2026, marking another proud milestone in our Silver Jubilee Celebrations! ✨

The ceremony began with a heartfelt floral tribute to our beloved Late Chairman, Sardar Tavinder Singh Kohli Ji, whose passion for sports continues to inspire generations.

With 79 teams from across different states, the National Sports Meet brings together talented athletes to compete in:
🏀 Basketball
🏐 Volleyball
🏓 Table Tennis
🎾 Tennis

Welcoming the participating teams, Dr. S. Sreenatha Reddy, Director, GNITC, appreciated the overwhelming response and extended his best wishes to all the players.

🎙️ Dr. H. S. Saini, Hon. Managing Director, GNI & Vice-Chancellor, GNU, encouraged participants to compete with fairness, discipline, safety and true sportsmanship, while highlighting the importance of sports in developing teamwork, leadership, confidence and discipline.

🎈 The ceremonial balloon release beautifully symbolized unity, freedom, teamwork and sportsmanship, setting the stage for an exciting sporting celebration.
