We are excited to announce a GIAN-MHRD Workshop on “Chloroplast Biogenesis and Engineering” to be held from October 07–17, 2025, at the University of Hyderabad.

This advanced-level workshop will be led by Prof. Yuichiro Takahashi, a renowned Molecular Biologist from Okayama University, Japan, with over three decades of pioneering research in photosynthetic protein complexes and chloroplast function.

The workshop will cover cutting-edge topics such as:
✅ Chloroplast development and gene regulation
✅ Biogenesis of photosystems and light-harvesting complexes
✅ Chloroplast transformation and engineering
✅ Advanced tools in molecular biology
✅ Applications in stress adaptation and photoprotection

👨‍🏫 Indian experts, including Prof. S. Rajagopal (Coordinator), will also deliver lectures and hands-on sessions, making this a truly enriching learning opportunity!

Ms. Sumi Rana, a PhD scholar working with Dr. M. Muthamilarasan in the Department of Plant Sciences, University of Hyderabad showcased her cutting-edge research at the prestigious Plant & Animal Genome Conference (PAG) in San Diego, California, USA (January 10–15, 2025). Her presentation, titled "Identification and Expression Profiling of Phytic Acid Biosynthetic Genes in Foxtail Millet for Targeted Editing to Generate Low Phytic Acid Lines," highlights significant advancements toward improving the nutritional quality of foxtail millet through gene editing.

Congratulations to Sumi for representing our work on such a global stage and contributing to the future of sustainable and nutritious agriculture! 🌾✨

📢 Celebrating the success of Millet-Utopia 2025! 🌾

The University of Hyderabad proudly hosted this vibrant event, bringing together 1,358 students from 50 schools under the theme "Millets for Food, Nutrition, Energy, and Environment."

Students engaged in various competitions like quiz, debate, drawing, skit, writing, and elocution, reflecting their creativity and knowledge about the importance of millets in sustainable agriculture and nutrition.
