What is with Cleveland State University and Shorelight consultants asking for a $4000 deposit and then insisting on payment of tuition before getting the visa? This seems very close to harassing students and their families! Some students take a loan for their studies which gets dispersed only after getting a visa. After paying $4000 is the student going to run away? Why cant the university wait for a visa acceptance before asking to pay around $12000!!!

Nowadays, I get asked if it's okay to take the home edition of the GRE. Sometimes I do not understand the underlying message hidden in this question. Are they asking if the home edition is fine and valid or asking if they can get someone else to give the test? The answer is simple - it's not ok for someone else to take the GRE test or the English proficiency test or write your essays or do your assignments or attend college for you. No… it's not ok!

If the question is actually, are home tests valid? then the answer is - yes some universities are fine with the home edition of the GRE and TOEFL. Only one university has explicitly stated that it will not accept home-test versions of any test, and that's Arizona State University. But please read the admission requirements before applying. Also, at this point, I think it is safer to go to the centre and take the tests because home test scores are getting withheld or cancelled because of authenticity issues.

The US Consulate in Hyderabad has not moved. So please come to our location in Begumpet for your visa interview. Our Visa Application Center (VAC) has moved to the HITEC City metro station in Madhapur, but actual visa interviews will continue at the consulate
