Small chairs. Big questions.

The kind adults have stopped asking out loud - "why", "how come", "what if" - but a three-year-old asks without a second thought.

We don't hush the questions we can't answer easily. We sit with them. Sometimes for a whole afternoon.

Because the size of the chair was never a measure of the size of the mind in it.

We don't always have the answer ready. And honestly, we don't always give it - even when we do.

Because a question left open for a day, a week, a season, becomes something a child carries with them, turns over, wonders about on their own.

Some answers are worth the wait.

She's not writing to finish the page.

She's writing because right now, nothing else exists, not the noise around her, not the clock, not what comes next.

We don't rush this. A child this absorbed isn't just completing a worksheet. She's building the kind of focus that carries her far beyond it.

Because attention like this can't be taught in a day. It's grown, page by page.

There's a version of us that wants to say "be careful" the second a child starts climbing.

We try to hold that back.

Because a child figuring out where to place a foot, how far to reach, whether that next bar is too high, that's not recklessness. That's a young body learning to trust its own judgment, one rung at a time.

Our job isn't to remove the risk. It's to stand close enough to catch a fall, and far enough to let them find out they usually won't need us to.
