With regular sensitization of school children, separate training and orientation programs for teachers, mid-day meal workers, child cabinet members, and Meena Manch members, this Middle School in Sitamarhi, Bihar was able to strengthen the WASH activities in the school. This led to improved cleanliness in the school environment, a positive behaviour change, and ownership of responsibilities among the stakeholders.

The New Bhagalpur Middle School in Bokaro, Jharkhand, despite the limited space and no funds, invented an incinerator in order to strengthen the menstrual hygiene management in the school. With the aim of reducing absenteeism of female students, the incinerator was created by utilizing local resources for the safe disposal of used sanitary pads inside the girls' toilet. The incinerator is efficiently managed by the girl's cabinet.

The headmaster of Gogadhani Primary School in Banaskantha, Gujarat, with the support of his fellow teachers mobilized community support to provide an adequate number of hand wash points as per the Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya guidelines. This has led to improved student attendance and a safer and healthier school environment. The school, apart from focusing on infrastructure improvement, also initiated the “Aaj nu Gulab” (Today’s Rose) award that promotes good hand wash & personal hygiene and creates a sense of pride and motivation among children & parents.

The dedication of the Nodal Teacher of Sharda Kanya Middle School has driven the school towards an improved child-friendly learning environment and sustained WASH behaviors among the students with assistance from other stakeholders such as the MLA, Rotary Foundation, Giridih Municipal Corporation, etc.

The convergence of the government departments of health and education at the district level, UNICEF, and NGOs has led to the improvement in MHM across the schools in the district of Sbarkantha, where adolescent girls are enrolled. The increased availability of safe absorbents, low cost, and eco-friendly incinerators that are locally available, along with the capacity building has led to this significant change.
