Once there was a little girl named Julia. On her eighth birthday, her friend gifted her a tiny, orange fish, in a plastic bag filled with water. She named it Fishy. Julia was thrilled. She brought a fish bowl and put Fishy in it. She walked down to the pet shop and bought a tiny box of fish food. It said, "Feed one teaspoon at a time, no more". On the first day, Julia did what was instructed on the box. But Fishy kept opening its mouth continuously. On the second day, Julia decided to give it a little more. Little by little, she fed Fishy the whole box within an hour. Poor fishy overate and soon died. Julia lost her cute little friend. She felt bad for not following the instructions.

Once there was a very greedy girl named June. Her friends Alice invited her to a birthday party. At the party, there were lots of cupcakes kept on the table. June, being the greedy girl that she was, wanted to gobble up all the cupcakes. She began eating them. First, she ate one, then two, and finally she finished twenty cupcakes! The next morning, June woke up with a stomach ache. She could barely move. That day, the entire class went for a picnic.
June lay in bed, groaning with pain. She swore that she would stop being so greedy.

On a lazy Sunday afternoon, George and his friends saw a pigeon taking one twig at a time from the barn. They observed the pigeon and wondered what he was doing. The pigeon flew from the barn to the tree and back again. At the end of the day, the pigeon had a beautiful nest ready on the tree. He had managed to make an entire nest by taking one twig at a time. As the sun set far away on the horizon, the pigeon peacefully slept in his nest.

SHORT STORY - Blue Patch in the sky

Tim and his grandma planned to spend one whole day at the beach. When Tim began packing his picnic bag, he saw big, dark clouds gathering in the sky.“Oh, no!” Tim exclaimed. The clouds thundered and soon it began to rain heavily. ‘’please, grandma,” Tim pleaded “let’s not cancel our trip. "Don’t worry, Tim” grandma said. “we will definitely go if we see a bright blue patch in the sky".
Tim sat by the window and waited for the blue patch to appear. The rain stopped, but the clouds refused to part. Then Tim had an idea. He decided to enjoy it on his own till the clouds parted. He ran to his room and fetched a blue handkerchief from the cupboard. He went to the terrace and started waving his blue handkerchief, pretending that it was the blue sky. He clapped and laughed and called out to the birds on the trees. Grandma, who was glancing at her wet plants in the garden, looked up just then and smiled.“The clouds have indeed parted, " she said. It seemed that looking at little Tim’s efforts, the sun had smiled and peeped out from behind the clouds. This created a bright blue patch in the sky, just above the handkerchief that Tim was waving!

Once, all the fingers of the hand ganged up against the thumb. The shapely fingers teased the thumb for being short and stout. They teased him, “ Ugly Thumb! Ugly Thumb!” the thumb grew sad and decided not to be in the company of the fingers anymore. He sat there, unmoving. When the hand needed to write or hold anything, it couldn’t. the fingers realized that even though the thumb didn’t look like them, he was more useful than all of them. The fingers apologized to the thumb and the hand began working again!

There was a girl named Suzy. One day, she decided to call her friends for an ice cream party. She mixed the ingredients and kept them in the freezer to set. After a few minutes, Suzy grew very impatient. She opened the freezer to see if the ice cream was ready. It wasn’t. Every ten minutes, she checked the fridge. The freezer got warmer every time it was opened. Even after four hours, the ice cream failed to set. To make matters worse, the fridge broke down just when Suzy's friends were about to arrive. Suzy’s ice cream party was ruined.
