ANSWER: Lubiprostone. Lubiprostone is a chloride channel activator that increases intestinal fluid secretion and facilitates intestinal transit. Dicyclomine is an antispasmodic with anticholinergic properties that can cause constipation.
Alosetron is a 5‐HT3 receptor antagonist and is
indicated for women with diarrhea‐predominant IBS.
Tricyclic antidepressants can modulate pain perception and may be most beneficial in patients with diarrhea but can worsen constipation through their
