Dear Parents,

We performed an interesting and engaging science activity based on the concept of Refractive Index.

In this activity, a small glass beaker was placed inside a larger beaker and filled with a liquid (oil). As the liquid level increased, the smaller beaker appeared to “disappear”. This created excitement and curiosity among students.

🔍 Concept Explained:
This happens because the refractive index of the liquid is nearly the same as that of the glass. When light passes between two materials with similar refractive indices, it does not bend significantly, making the object nearly invisible to our eyes.
