sponsored high school where we strive for the all-round development of our students. Teachers always try to facilitate learning and students are eager to learn. The total number of students is 1050 of which 482 are boys and the rest are girls. Total 422 students are from minority community. 596 numbers of students are scheduled caste. Even now it is the only high school in the Dhulagori Panchayat.
What the school urgently requires is to be upgraded to a higher secondary institution. This is the only high school in Dhulagori panchayat area. Many of our students who pass Madhyamik every year find it difficult to get admitted to other higher secondary schools. For the interest of the local students, this institution must be upgraded to a higher secondary school. Although Dhulagori AdarshaVidyalaya was set up way back in 1964, the education scenario in this village has not improved much. Student are not conscious of the importance of education and most of the guardians cannot care less about their children's future. It is really a matter of concern. The surrounding environment of Dhulagori AdarshaVidyalaya is pleasant. Actually it is cradled by lush green vegetation all around. The environment is ideal for education. But we are lagging behind because of the indifference of the local people and guardians. The socio – economic condition of our students is poor. Many students come to school without taking meals and as a result feel nervous or fall ill during school hours. The plight of many students is heart-rending. Local people must come forward and help us to build a better future for these children. The building that houses Dhulagori Adarsha Vidyalaya is extremely dilapidated and can any day turn out to be fatal. We must be more protective of the innocent children who daily come here for their studies. Above all, the condition of the classrooms is uncongenial for teaching-learning. We do not have enough rooms besides, those we have, are not airy, spacious or well-lit. The school building must be upgraded. The School environment and security are two problem zones that we need to address urgently. The environment of the school must be improved for the interest of students as well as for the well-being of the village Dhulagori. The development of the school is imperative for the development of the village. Toilets everywhere should be hygienic, especially so in a school. But the condition of the students’ toilet in our school is absolutely unhygienic. Students are suffering a lot from the lack of a properly maintained toilet. Many students fear to use the toilet. It triggers health-related problems. The condition of the teachers’ toilet is not much better either. The Mid-day meal programme is running in our school. Many students eat mid-day meals. Dal, Soyabeans and eggs and different seasonal vegetables and fibres are common items on our menu. We are trying to give them more nutritious food than they used to get before. The big problem faced by us is the lack of awareness among the guardians. They are totally indifferent to their children’s welfare. On most occasions they put their faith in private tutors who can scarcely nourish them. Students follow private tutors instead of paying attention to what is being taught in the school. Now we are trying to find out the special aptitudes among students and will strive to inculcate and develop their creative interests. We dream that one day this school will become an embodiment of the joy and beauty struggling for expression in every young heart. But joy and beauty can only wither away in the gloomy corridors of this dilapidated building we call a school. We appeal to all of you who are young at heart for sharing our dream and striving to make it come true.
