Before you pay for a foreign MBBS seat, ask exactly where the clinical years happen and which hospital your child will be attached to. India's NMC (National Medical Commission) FMGL 2021 rules expect genuine, in-person clinical training. If a college is vague about its hospital, treat it as a warning sign.

Parents — one question can save you a lot of worry later.

When you're comparing MBBS-abroad colleges, ask each one, in writing: is student health cover or medical insurance included in the fee? What exactly does it cover, and for how long?

Studying medicine means being in and around hospitals from early on, thousands of kilometres from home. Health cover shouldn't be an assumption — it should be a line item you can read. If a college won't put it on paper, that tells you something.

"NMC-approved foreign university" is one of the most misleading phrases in MBBS-abroad marketing.

The NMC does not publish any list of approved or recognised foreign colleges. It only sets the conditions a foreign degree must meet for you to register in India. So when an agent calls a college "NMC-listed," that proves nothing — verify in writing that the college genuinely meets the FMGL 2021 rules before you pay.
