Important announcement for GATE2021 candidates..
Two major points:
1. Increase in subject options
2. Relaxation of minimum criteria i.e. BSc students can appear for GATE2021

Announcement for new subject papers in GATE 2021: We are delighted to inform that GATE 2021 will be organized by IIT Bombay. As most of you know that IITB constantly tries to create more opportunities for the students in India. GATE 2021 will be no exception. We are including two new papers in GATE 2021 -- one in environment science and the second one is on humanities and social sciences (HSS) (yes, this is not a typo ... a GATE paper in Humanities and Social Sciences). This is the first time in 36 years since the beginning that a non science and engineering paper is being introduced in GATE! All admissions to masters and PhD level programs in IITs and other universities, if they so desire, may now be based on this standardized test. We expect this to open up more career opportunities for students in social sciences. Hopefully PSUs will also use this for employing candidates in HSS. We plan to inform UGC and PSUs on our new endeavor. Further, since we are allowing even 3rd year college students to write the GATE exams ... candidates will have one more opportunity to improve their performance in GATE exam.
