Anthotype / Sun printing

(a fun sensory art & science experiment)

Materials needed: Thick drawing sheets (150gsm or above), turmeric, leaves, clear glass / acrylic sheets, baking soda.

1️⃣ Mix turmeric with water and apply on the paper. Place the paper on a flat surface or tray.

2️⃣ Place leaves or any paper cut outs as desired. Keep the acrylic sheet on top of the paper.

3️⃣ Leave in direct sunlight for 1-2 days. The portion left uncovered will start to fade.

4️⃣ Remove the acrylic sheet and the cut outs / leaves. The portion under the leaves would be in a darker shade of yellow compared to the rest of the paper.

5️⃣ Dip the paper in a solution of baking soda and water. Hang it to dry

6️⃣ The prints will turn into red colour.

Classes starting next week. Monday to Friday for three weeks.

Admissions open for our kindergarten program - “Young Learners”

9:30 am to 12:30 pm - Monday to Friday. Classes start from June 2024.

BiGiN Book club’s read-a-thon challenge.

We had an amazing participation for the read-a-thon challenge. Received so many voice notes, hand written summaries with adorable drawings.

We had readers as young as 2 years till 40 years participate in the challenge. A huge shout out to all the readers. You did a great job.

We will get in touch with winners - “The most voracious readers”. We have also mentioned a few more participants as special mention to encourage them.

We received a feedback, because of the festival season some of our participants couldn’t continuously read on all 7 days. We will be bringing back the challenge during winter holidays. so keep watching this space.

Guidelines
1️⃣ Read as much as you like (could be 1 page or 100)
2️⃣ At the end of each day, submit the details (name of the book, number of pages, a one page summary or a voice note)
3️⃣ Entry will be considered only if you participate in all 7 days.

Who can participate:
1️⃣ Open to all age groups : For young children parents can read with them
2️⃣ One page summary compulsory if you are above 18 years
3️⃣ Email IDs will be used to collate the responses over 7 days, so be sure to use separate email IDs if more than one member of the family is participating

Winners
1️⃣ e-certificates will be given to all participants (7days entry compulsory)
2️⃣ Winners will be selected by our panel and will be announced on 25th Oct
3️⃣ Bonus points for families participating together, readers over 40 years, inclusion of books in mother tongue, books in multiple language and genre

Book club - 01 (26th August)

📕 “The book with no pictures”

👩🏻‍🏫 We started with the read aloud session.

🖍️ After that, we created our own drawings inspired by the book. Since it is a book with no pictures some of us created our own drawings to go with it.

📝 Next we did a small creative writing exercise, with only one rule. That you have to rhyme, no need spell right, or no need to have correct grammar or even have a meaningful word. Our goal today was to start writing. Get rid of all the rules of writing and learn to have fun in writing.

✏️ Our session ended with this one thought, “The first step to creative writing is to putting the pencil to the paper”
