Reading (MCQ - Single answer)

Have a look at this historic property on the market, going for a steal. Now set out as a four-bedroom house, the former Ipswich Police Station on Greenhill Rd comes complete with its own jail cell out the back. Secured with a hefty padlock, the cell contains two bench beds, a small hatch window and an adjoining toilet, which has not been in use for a while. Vendor Mel has only ever used the cell as a storage area. She researched the property through the State Library and understands it was a working station from the mid 1930s until 1968.
“It’s a very solidly-built property,” she says of the double brick home. “It’s nearly 100 years old but there’s no cracks”. She bought the house about seven years ago with her husband Falun Liu, attracted by its 977sqm land size and location in the High Park Primary School zone. “It’s a very generous land — that was one of the things that attracted me to it — and there’s a lot of potential,” Ms Jiang says. Freshly painted but with old carpet, the main building’s interior has 1930s-style mantelpieces. The ceilings are high and there are still traces of its police office past with built-in cupboards and grates on some of the internal doors.
According to the passage, which statement contradicts it?
A. The property is spread on a large area, has prison cells with high ceilings and has better prospective.
B. Mel has owned the property, which only served as a prison from the mid 1930s until 1968, for a couple of years now.
C. Mel says the property still appears to indicate the purpose of what it was used for previously.
D. Mel reckons a block of the property was utilised for only storing few things.
