Creating Employable Youth through Training & Development. Excellent Initiative.

JAIPUR: With an aim to provide job-oriented training programmes to the state's unemployed youth, Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje inaugurated the country's first skill development centre here.

Speaking after inaugurating the centre, which has been set up under the 'Livelihood Skill Project', Raje urged the people of the state to fight casteism, regionalism and communalism which were obstructing the path of development.

"We will have to unite to fail such casteism, regionalism and communalism which are obstructing the development process, then only we will be able to move ahead on the path of development", she said here on Saturday.

Raje said visiting tourists to Rajasthan will see state's economic development and skill of our youth in the near future besides the splendid forts, palaces and the cultural heritage.

After Udaipur, the state government will open 200 such centres in all the 33 districts of the state, she said, adding that a MoU has been signed with 40 agencies which will provide skilled training to the youth.

Development is more about the individual – making him or her more efficient at a job or capable of facing different responsibilities and challenges. Development concentrates on the broader skills that are applicable to a wider variety of situations, such as thinking creatively, decision-making and managing people. In short, training is typically linked to a particular subject matter and is applicable to that subject only, while development is based on growing broader skills which can be used in many situations.

Training is about gaining the skills needed for a job. These may be learned at the place of work (on-the-job) or away from work (off-the-job). On-the-job training tends to be more cost-effective and relevant. However, off-the-job training is usually carried out by professional trainers. It also occurs away from the distractions of work. Training tends to have very specific and measurable goals, such as operating an IT system or till, understanding a process, or performing certain procedures (for example, cashing up).

Introduction to Training & Development
All organizations aim for competent staff for their companies but competency comes through learning. Learning either comes through experience or training or through a combination of both. Lack of knowledge or skills in someone leads to poor performance. At this point we need to understand the importance of training needs. “ The difference between actual and required human performance at work forms the basis of training need.” It can be organizational training, occupational training or individual training.
With the help of training and development programs companies can save lot of time and money and can make new recruits job ready. This type of a training focuses both on soft skills development as well as on sector specific training.
