Who was Aryabhata?
Long before telescopes and satellites,
Aryabhata was looking up — and calculating.
🟤 Born in 476 CE in Kusumapura (modern-day Patna)
🟤 At age 23, he wrote the Aryabhatiya, a groundbreaking text on astronomy and mathematics
🟤 He proposed that:
Earth rotates on its axis
The year has 365.258 days
Eclipses are caused by Earth’s shadow, not Rahu-Ketu swallowing the Sun and Moon
🟤 He gave an accurate approximation of pi (π ≈ 3.1416)
🟤 He also developed a system for zero and place-value notation
All of this —
in the 5th century.
Aryabhata didn’t just write equations.
He rewrote how we see the universe.
