In India , every year, Republic day is celebrated with great zest. It honours the day on which the Constitution of India came into effect. The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26th November 1949. It came into effect on 26th January, 1950. On this day , Ceremonious Parades takes place at the Rajpath, which are performed as a tribute to India ; it's Unity in diversity and rich cultural heritage.

WHY 26TH JANUARY WAS CHOOSEN AS THE DATE OF REPUBLIC DAY?

26th January was choosen as date for Republic day because it was on this day in 1929 when the DECLARATION OF INDIAN INDEPENDENCE ( Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress.
