*UT Govt of Jammu and Kashmir issues formal order for screening test of ReT teachers*

The government of Jammu and Kashmir Monday issued orders for introduction of screening test for Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers who have obtained their degrees through study centres.
As per the order issued by the School Education department, the regularised teachers will also appear in the screening test.
"Persons figuring in the selection panel for fresh engagement will appear in the screening test to assess their teaching ability," reads the order.
Moreover, the department has also framed the syllabus for teachers and devised a proper format for conducting the teaching-ability test.
The screening test would be conducted in 6 formats including subject specific syllabus, teaching Aptitude, Reasoning,Quant, General English and questions based on General Awareness.
The school education department has framed the syllabus in accordance with the J&K Board of School Education (BOSE) books prescribed for classes Ist class to 12th.
Under Teaching Aptitude, a teacher would be assessed on their ability to act as a motivator, facilitator, guide, counsellor and mentor.
As per the order, the teachers would be assessed on their ability to encourage the students' participation in activity, group work, discussion, seminars and importance of Teaching Learning Materials (TLM).
"Under the evaluation of learning, teachers would be assessed on their knowledge about the importance of Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE)," reads the government order.
The teachers would be asked questions regarding the purpose and importance of conducting morning assembly in schools. "Questions regarding framing time table, enrollment drive, problems of absenteeism and dropouts in schools," the order reads.
The questions regarding role of school management committee and village education committee is also part of the syllabus framed for conducting screening test of ReT teachers.
Moreover the teachers would be asked the questions regarding the need and importance of Institutional plan and child profiles besides the purpose of framing annual calendar of schools.
"A teacher would be asked the question up to a particular level which a teacher is expected to know and is able to answer the queries of students as well," the order reads.
Meanwhile officials said the department has not fixed a date to conduct the screening test. "It would be decided later," the official said.
