The Batasia Loop, constructed in 1919, is one of the most iconic engineering marvels of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. Its spiral track allows the Toy Train to gently descend the steep gradient between Ghum and Darjeeling, offering sweeping views of the Kanchenjunga range. At the heart of this loop stands the Gorkha War Memorial, built in 1995 to honour the brave Gorkha soldiers of the Darjeeling hills who laid down their lives for the nation. Their courage, discipline, and devotion to duty have earned them a place of timeless respect in India’s military history. The soaring national flag beside the memorial symbolises unity, gratitude, and the nation’s salute to these heroes. St. Georgia Girls’ will witness this historic landmark during their trip to Darjeeling, experiencing its beauty as well as the profound legacy it represents.

✨ Four Days to Darjeeling: Where Every Leaf Holds a Story ✨

As the students walk through the tea estate, they will discover how each leaf carries years of heritage—grown with patience, preserved with pride, and admired across the world. Dating back to the 1800s, these gardens were first nurtured by British planters who realised that Darjeeling’s cool climate and rich soil were perfect for tea. Over the decades, local communities carried this legacy forward, turning Darjeeling tea into a global treasure.
The fragrance of fresh leaves will surround them, inviting them to observe and appreciate the artistry behind every cup.

By the end of this experience, the students will realise that Darjeeling is not just a place to visit—it is a feeling to live. The tea garden will surely become one of the most treasured chapters of their upcoming journey, a blend of history, nature, and the timeless charm of the hills.
