Grand Tiranga Yatra and Patriotic Programme Held at Hee-Yangthang Senior Secondary School
Gyalshing, August 14, 2026
On the eve of India’s 80th Independence Day, Hee-Yangthang Senior Secondary School organised a grand patriotic programme under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign’, ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ and the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’.
The major highlights of the programme were Patriotic Songs presented by NCC Cadets and an Inter-House Patriotic Dance Competition among the students. The spirited and soulful patriotic songs presented by the NCC Cadets filled the gathering with a strong sense of national pride. Likewise, the patriotic dance performances by students from different houses made the programme colourful, lively and inspiring.
The programme was conducted under the leadership of School Principal Mr. Narayan Basnet, with active participation from teachers, non-teaching staff, NCC Cadets and students. Carrying the National Flag in their hands, the students took out a grand Tiranga Yatra, expressing their spirit of patriotism and national unity. The procession proceeded through MG Marg, with students raising patriotic slogans and spreading messages of national unity, integrity and love for the nation.
The Tiranga Yatra transformed the atmosphere around the school and MG Marg into a vibrant display of patriotism. The disciplined participation of the students, fluttering Tricolours, patriotic songs and slogans added dignity and enthusiasm to the occasion.
As part of the programme, the Inter-House Patriotic Dance Competition saw students from different houses present captivating performances based on themes such as India’s freedom struggle, national unity, bravery, sacrifice and patriotism. The creativity, artistic talent and patriotic spirit reflected in the performances attracted the attention and appreciation of the audience.
The Patriotic Songs presented by the NCC Cadets were another major attraction of the event. Their performances reflected discipline, dedication and devotion to the nation, while further strengthening the feeling of national pride among the students and those present.
The programme also observed ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’, remembering the countless people who lost their lives, were displaced or suffered immense hardship during the Partition of India. The occasion conveyed the message that the present and future generations should learn from those painful chapters of history and work towards peace, unity and harmony.
Similarly, the historic significance of the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’ was highlighted. Students were informed about the important role played by ‘Vande Mataram’ in inspiring patriotic sentiments during India’s freedom movement and its enduring place in the country’s national history.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Narayan Basnet said that such programmes play an important role in educating students beyond the classroom by creating awareness about the nation’s history, national symbols, freedom struggle and civic responsibilities. He emphasised that the National Flag represents the nation’s pride, unity, sacrifice and honour, and that respecting it is the responsibility of every citizen.
Students participating in the programme expressed that the Tiranga Yatra, patriotic songs and dance competition strengthened their feelings of love, respect and responsibility towards the nation.
The programme organised by Hee-Yangthang Senior Secondary School concluded as an inspiring celebration of patriotism, national unity and responsible citizenship, bringing together the Tiranga Yatra, NCC patriotic performances and the Inter-House Patriotic Dance Competition in a spirit of pride and devotion to the nation.

Awareness Programme on Modern Dairy Farming Held at Hee-Yangthang SSS on International Youth Day

Hee.Yangthang August 12:
On the occasion of International Youth Day, an awareness programme on modern dairy farming and entrepreneurship was organised today at Hee-Yangthang Senior Secondary School, with the objective of encouraging students and young people to explore dairy farming as a viable and sustainable career and business opportunity.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Principal Mr. Narayan Basnet, with the active participation of students and teachers of the school. Mr. Dipesh Khatiwada, who attended the programme as the resource person, shared valuable insights on modern dairy farming, scientific livestock management, business planning, income generation and entrepreneurship.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Khatiwada highlighted the growing tendency among educated youth to seek salaried employment after completing their studies. He stressed the need to move beyond the mindset of merely looking for jobs and instead focus on becoming job creators and successful entrepreneurs.

He introduced the students to the modern model of dairy farming, explaining how traditional cattle rearing can be transformed into a profitable commercial enterprise through scientific methods, proper management and the use of modern technology. Sharing his own experience as an example, he encouraged young people to consider dairy farming not merely as a traditional occupation but as a promising business with significant economic potential.

The programme also covered various scientific aspects of modern dairy farming, including selection of improved cattle breeds, scientific breeding, balanced nutrition, clean drinking water, proper housing, regular vaccination and veterinary care, hygienic milking practices, modern milking equipment and proper storage and cooling of milk.

The resource person further explained that dairy farmers can increase their income by producing value-added products such as curd, ghee, paneer, chhurpi and other dairy products, rather than depending solely on the sale of fresh milk. Proper record keeping, market assessment, cost and income management, digital technology and effective utilisation of government and cooperative support were also highlighted as important components of a successful dairy enterprise.

He also emphasised that animal waste can be effectively utilised for producing organic manure and biogas, creating additional economic and environmental benefits. With proper planning, modern technology and a business-oriented approach, even a small dairy farm can gradually be expanded into a larger and sustainable enterprise.

Mr. Khatiwada urged the students to develop a positive attitude towards agriculture and livestock-based businesses and to recognise that education should not only prepare young people to seek employment but also equip them with the knowledge, skills and confidence to create employment opportunities for others.

The programme was organised in the spirit of International Youth Day with a focus on youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, self-reliance and employment generation. It provided students with practical knowledge and a new perspective on dairy farming as a potential career and business opportunity.

The awareness programme concluded with the message that educated and skilled youth can contribute significantly to economic development by embracing modern agriculture, adopting innovative technologies and becoming entrepreneurs rather than merely job seekers.
