Book Donation to SMLGC, Gyalshing, Library by Mr. Ugen Lepcha.
Four copies of books were donated by Mr. Ugen Lepcha this morning, dated 01/01/2026, from his residence at Marchark, Ranipool, Gangtok, Sikkim (India). Upon my request to donate his books to the Library of SMLGC, Aarigaon, Gyalshing. He kindly agreed and handed over his recently published books to me for submission to our college library. Mr. Ugen Lepcha is a scholar of Lepcha language and literature. He formerly served as a Guest Faculty at Sikkim University and is presently working as an Assistant Professor at Khangchendzonga State University, Sikkim.
In 2024, he published his first book titled "Lepcha Verse: Monosyllabic Musings-Volume I." Subsequently, In 2025, he published his second book titled "Semantic Analysis of Monosyllabic Words in Rong (Lepcha): A Study of Representation and Meaning–Volume II."

EDUCATIONAL EXCURSION TO KALIMPONG,DISTRICT, WEST BENGAL, INDIA. Dated: 04 November 2025.

The Department of Lepcha, SML Government College, Aarigaon, Gyalshing, organised an Educational Excursion for the 5th Semester B.A. Lepcha (Honours) students to Kalimpong District, West Bengal, and its surrounding areas. The excursion aimed to provide students with practical exposure to Lepcha history, culture, and heritage. The team visited the Lepcha Museum, established by Padma Shri Lopan Sonam Tshering Tamsang, and the historic Damsang Dee (Fort) of Punu Gaybu Achyok, the Lepcha King. The day concluded with a blessed interaction with Ren. P.T. Lepcha Simikmu Lopan at his residence, 5th Mile, Kalimpong District, who graciously donated several books and Naamthaar Chyo (Lepcha Holy Books) to the college. On behalf of the Department, Mr. Pem Dorjee Lepcha (HoD & Assistant Professor) and Mr. Dadup Tshering Lepcha (Assistant Professor) expressed heartfelt gratitude to Ren. Lopan Simikmu and his family for their generous contribution and blessings. Lastly, sincere thanks to Ren. Lawan Lepcha, Nepali Language Teacher, Kalimpong, for his continuous guidance and support throughout the excursion.

✨📚 Happy Teacher’s Day, 2025 📚✨
Today on 5th September 2025, I had the privilege to attend the Teacher’s Day celebration at my workplace — Department of Lepcha, Room No. G-16, Gyan Kunj (Academic Block), SML Government College, Aarigaon, Gyalshing, District Sikkim, India.
The program was beautifully organised by the students of our Department of Lepcha and I feel truly grateful for their warm gesture and respect.
On this special day, I extend my heartfelt best wishes to all my respected colleagues and students.
In India, Teacher’s Day is celebrated in honor of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888–1975) — a great philosopher, teacher, and the second President of India. His life and work remind us that “Teachers are the true builders of the Nation.”

The Department of Lepcha organized an “Out-going Students’ Farewell Programme” at SML Government College, Aarigaon, Gyalshing on 14th July 2025.
The 2nd and 4th semester students beautifully hosted the event to bid farewell to their seniors.
The programme featured a welcome address, traditional Lepcha prayers, cultural performances, emotional speeches, and token presentations.
It was a heartfelt celebration of the graduating batch’s journey and achievements.
