The World Mental Health Day 2021 has been observed with a series of activities. We conducted the 'Mind Jar Activity' and distributed handmade bookmarks on the 8th and released our Annual Department Newsletter, 'PSYCHED' on the 9th October 21. Below are some snapshots of the observation.

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, the Department of Psychology and Counseling has released the annual e-Newsletter the "Psyched", a collection of articles and cross-word puzzles from the students of the Department of Psychology and Counselling related to the theme of this year "Mental Health in an Unequal World".
Please go through our issues in the newsletter and help us spread awareness and advocacy towards the field of Psychology.

Department of Psychology and Counseling is proud to announce that our faculty members Dr. Chandita Baruah, HOD, Department of Psychology and Counseling and Ms. Sampreeti Das, Assistant Professor, Dept of Psychology and Counseling will be the resource persons for the program on Stress, Pursuit of Happiness and Surge of Substance Use Among Youths conducted by Meghalaya Scout Guide Fellowships in collaboration of Assam Don Bosco University on 29th of May, 2021.
We congratulate Dr. Baruah and Ms. Das for shouldering the responsibility to create awareness regarding mental health during these difficult times and for being a helping hand to those youth who are in need of help.

The Counseling Cell of Department of Psychology and Counseling, ADBU has come up with it's new Initiative- "SVASTI" where our team of experienced psychologists will provide online counseling to the faculty, staff members and the students of ADBU. During these difficult times where each of us are struggling with losses, pain, frustration the Department of Psychology and Counseling would like to extend their helping hand.
The team of psychologists will be available from Monday to Friday (10am-4.30 pm).

Assam Don Bosco University proudly boasts of an amalgamation of supremely talented students. On many occasions our students have not only exhibited their artistic skills but their dedication and responsibility towards their community as well. Our students have once again demonstrated their undying passion for community service by creating a beautiful song for the Tika Utsav- a mass vaccination program for COVID-19 by Govt. Of India (an initiative of NSS Cell, ADBU).
The Department of Psychology and Counseling is extremely proud of our students from BA Psychology 4th Semester: Anshul Aldrin Bilung who have created this mesmerising song as well as Anurag Paulmicky Bilung- the guitarist and Music Director. May God bless you both in all your future endeavours.

All Men were created equally by God and thus each of us have the right to live with respect and dignity. When we say 'All' it very much includes individuals with mental disorders. Unfortunately reality shows us a grim picture and sheer lack of awareness and knowledge about the Rights of Individuals with mental disorders.
The Department of Psychology and Counseling is proud of our Head of the Department, Dr. Sabiha Alam Choudhury Sabiha Alam Ahmed who in a recent capacity building program under Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives shouldered the responsibility of spreading awareness about the Mental Health Act 1987 and 2017.
Reputed English daily Assam Tribune reported on this event.
