In order to strengthen science, technology, and innovative activities in the state of Assam, Assam Science Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC) under the aegis of Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Assam is organising the Northeast India’s biggest science fest, the 2nd edition of “State Science Festival” from March 23-25, 2019 at the Tezpur University premise. This time, the mega event is being organised by the council with the active support of Tezpur University.
State Science Festival is an integral part of Assam’s long term vision in developing and widening the spectrum of scientific temper in the state. The prime objective of the festival is to instil scientific temper among the masses and showcasing Assam’s contribution in the field of S&T over the years.
The 3days mega S&T expo is designed with a myriad of intellectually stimulating events to unfold the confluence of scientific and technical thoughts, ideas and activities among children and young minds from various educational institutions of Assam. Around 100 budding talents from Aryabhatta Science Centres of the state along with various grass-root level innovators, R&D organizations, scientific community and S&T based institutions of the state and country as a whole will be participating in the said event. Apart from these, a host of other science activities of varied nature including science lecture, scientific experiment demonstration, science quiz etc. will also be organized for participation by the students and general public.
The exhibition stalls will have a dimension of 10 x 10 feet for the participating organizations free of cost. However, the participating departments/institutions can have their own internal decoration etc. at their own cost for the exhibits etc..

The fair is open for general people and science lovers and there are no entry or registration fee.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The S&T Division of ASTEC invites proposals from final year students of Engineering (B.E./B.Tech or Diploma) in any discipline and from post graduate (M.Sc.) students of Science from various colleges of the state which would be screened by a panel of experts to convert them into potential projects. Interested student(s) can submit proposal either in a group or individually as per the instructions given in the advertisement.
Interested students are invited to submit the project proposal to the Director, Assam Science Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC), Bigyan Bhawan, G.S. Road, Near IDBI Building, Guwahati-5 within 28th February, 2019.

The Hybrid Ultra Capacitor (HUC) technology was developed by Prof. A. K. Shukla, Solid State Structural Chemistry Unit (SSCU), Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru and the technology is licensed to the Industrial Partner M/s MESHA Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Bengaluru.
The Department of Science & Technology, GOI has sanctioned the project titled “Field testing of Hybrid Ultra Capacitor (HUC) powered solar PV lighting kits and street lights for grid deprived rural area for lighting in varying climatic zones of India” for field testing the performance of the HUC Technology.
Accordingly, 80 nos. of such HUC Solar Lighting Kits received from Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) have been inducted in a grid deprived area of Assam namely Amerigog, Dhantala Village of Kamrup District by Science & Technology Division of ASTEC for field trial and assessment.
