Usability Engineering and HCI (UE-HCI) Lab is India's first and pioneering Interdisciplinary Design Research Lab for the development of new products and ICT applications established in the year 2003. UE–HCI Lab has trained India's pioneering batches of Usability professionals as ID- Interaction Designers, UI- User Interface Designers, and Ux- User Experience Designers and Innovation Design Managers. Apart from Cutting edge award-winning research and project work in Interaction Design this Lab also incorporates DESIGN MANAGEMENT & INNOVATION Research Facility wherein Design Thinking, Design Methods, Creativity, Entrepreneurship, IPR are focused upon through courses and projects. Academic activities at the UE-HCI Lab in the Dept. of Design (DoD) are Multi as well as Interdisciplinary involving other departments in IITG such as CSE, EEE, Civil, Mathematics, to name a few. The lab covers both software systems (GUI, IA, OOP, InfD) and hardware systems (Product Design) with a User-Centered Design focus. This Lab formulated the Core strategy for restructuring B.Des curriculum in 2003 – 04 with the philosophy of Innovation through Design Research and by introducing Interaction Design stream in the B.Des curriculum for the first time in India.
