VSAT 2017

Vignan’s Scholastic Aptitude Test (VSAT 2017) is a university level entrance test conducted by the Vignan’s University. VSAT is organizes for admission in B.Tech programme offered by the Vignan’s University and its associated campuses. For the year 2017, admission to B.Tech programme will be done on the basis of the performance of the V-SAT 2017, EAMCET and JEE Main entrance examination. The exam is held once in a year in the month of April. This year the examination will be conduction on 23 – 27 April 2017.

The name “Optometry” comes from the Greek words opsis that means “view” & metron that means “something used to measure”.

The historical backdrop of optometry can be followed back to the earlier studies on the optics and image formation by the eye.

The term optometry appeared in book “A Treatise on the Eye: The Manner and Phenomena of Vision” that was written by Scottish physician William Porterfield in 1759.

Optometry is a satisfying career in medical courses in various ways. It is a dynamic and challenging career that offers self-awareness, work flexibility, community respect, money related achievement & unlimited opportunities.

A career in optometry offers a high salary, job stability, tremendous potential for development and a decent work environment.

Many universities in India offering diploma, certificate, bachelor, master & Ph.D courses in Optometry.

Diploma Courses: It is two years duration course. You can pursue this course after completing your 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English

Bachelor Degree Courses:

Optometry (B.Opto)
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc)
The duration of these courses is 4 years. The student has successfully completed H.S.C./10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics & Pass in English.

Master Degree Courses:

Master of Optometry (M.Opto)
Master of Science (M.Sc)
M.A/ M.Sc. (5-year Integrated) Courses
M.Opto & M.Sc are two years duration regular full-time course. For admission in these courses, students have to pass Bachelor degree in Optometry or equivalent course from any Indian University.

Education required to become an Optometrists

To become Optometrists, you have completed 4 year bachelor degree program, preferably in a relevant field such as biology, chemistry, or physiology. You will require a bachelor’s degree to apply for optometry programs. Optometry programs typically take an additional four years to complete. All optometrists have to pass rigorous nationally administered exams to earn their license to practice.

Optometrists can pursue M.S, M.Phil, Ph.D or OD (Doctor of Optometry) degree after completion of Bachelors in Optometry.

SET 2017
Symbiosis International University, PuneSymbiosis Entrance Test (SET 2017) is a university level test that is conducted by the Symbiosis International University. SET is organized for admission to UG courses of the Symbiosis university and its constituents Institutions. The examination is commenced once in a year on 6th May 2017 as a pen paper based test. Candidates, those want to get admission into Engineering and Health Sciences courses, they don’t have a need to register for SET (if they wishes to offer scores of entrance exams other than SET such as JEE Main 2017). They can apply directly to the preferred institution. This is also applicable for SSCA (Symbiosis School of Culinary Arts), where the score of NCHMCT-JEE is accepted. BITSAT (Birla Institute of Technology & Science Admission Test) is a University level entrance test organized by Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani. It is organized to provide admission in first year degree in various UG and PG programmes like B.Tech, B.Pharma and M.Sc courses. The BITS offers admission in three campuses i.e. BITS Pilani Campus, K. K. Birla Goa Campus and Hyderabad Campus.
