Meet Rasmi Sylliang — a young woman from Ri Bhoi District, Meghalaya, who left the comfort of her village and travelled all the way to Tamil Nadu with nothing but hope, courage, and the dream of a better life. Like many young people, Rasmi faced unemployment and uncertainty back home. But instead of giving up, she found a new path through the DDU-GKY training program, which equipped her with the skills and confidence to step out of her comfort zone, become financially independent, and support her family. Behind every smile is sacrifice — missing home, adapting to a new place, learning to survive alone, and working hard every single day so her loved ones can have a brighter future. Her journey is not just about finding work. It’s about resilience, courage, and the silent strength carried by countless youth who leave home chasing opportunities, dignity, and a chance to change their lives.
