ICHR in collaboration with the Department of History, GU held a Special Lecture on Freedom and Fossil: The Human at the Planetary Turn by Prof. Chandi Prasad Nanda, Director, Odisha Research Centre, Bhubaneswar on 22nd August, 2025.

On the occasion of Women's Day, the Department of History, GU , Gauhati University had a movie screening on the 7th of March, 2025.

On January 1, 2025, Prof. Rena Laisram assumed the position of Head of the Department of History at Gauhati University. The outgoing Head of Department, Prof. Rajib Handique, officially handed over the responsibilities today.
