Rivers Preparatory School, set up by Rivers Education Foundation in 2014, has provided affordable preschool education for over 10 years. We have seen shy, timid toddlers blossom into budding artists, graceful dancers, talkative class leaders and confident and smart students ready to join reputed primary schools. As we look back on the years gone by we value the life lessons we have learnt from our community of students, parents and teachers and pledge to continue our work towards change. Grateful to all our well wishers and supporters who have been with us on this journey.

Today, June 15, has been declared by the UN as World Elderly Abuse Awareness Day. Today is a day to reflect and create awareness about this malaise in our society.
Here are some simple checks we can do to identify elderly abuse:
1. Check on senior citizens regularly
2. Check whether the caregivers are performing their duties well.
3. Look out for signs of quietness, avoidance in elders who were communicating normally.
4. Check for signs of neglect in nutrition and hygiene through behaviour changes or drastic weight loss.
5. If they have become unusually quiet, it may be a flag for emotional abuse.
6. Check for signs of physical injuries that cannot be explained.
Statistics suggest that a senior citizen is more likely to report financial abuse rather than emotional and psychological abuse. Seniors deserve to live with dignity. It is our duty to provide that secure environment for them.
