A renowned scholar, orientalist and first Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University late Prof. Krishna Kanta Handiqui donated his personal collection of 7593 books and journals to this library in the year 1982. The collection popularly known as "K.K.Handiqui Collection" includes books from 11 (eleven) different languages like Greek, Latin, French, Italian, German, Russian, Spanish, Pali, Prakrit, Sanskrit and English.
