The Kia Sonet’s one star result shows how far the industry still has to go. The model comes standard with driver and passenger frontal airbags and ESC, though the crash test report highlighted several concerns. The bodyshell and footwell were deemed unstable, poor chest protection limited the adult side impact rating to one star, and the side pole test was not performed due to the lack of side head protection airbags. On child safety, both dummies performed well in dynamic testing, but the absence of three-point belts in all seating positions, no passenger airbag disable switch, and a low CRS installation score brought the child occupant protection rating down to three stars.
