Government of India announced a new education policy on July 29, 2020. This policy focuses shifting of burden of school bags to boom learning and from what to think to how to think.
Every individual is different and has varying potential. New education policy contemplates reducing all subjects to core essentials, reducing dependency on textbooks and learning through interactive teaching, critical thinking, enquiry, discovery, discussion and analysis, and collaborative activities. It gives freedom to choose a variety of combination of subjects.
In new education policy, teachers are not expected to remain just a machine of knowledge givers; they have to act like a mentor, a guru to pupils. Previously the same teaching method was used for all. The new policy ensures that one single size cannot fit all.
India will be at the demographic dividend stage from 2018 to 2055 with maximum working age population. It propels increase in earning, purchase power which fuels manifold increase in consumption and production. All developed counties witnessed this stage. All are growing very fast. We must derive the benefits of the demographic dividends. Appreciating the gravity of the situation, government had announced this new education policy to produce skilled based individuals.
