⭐ Distinguished IPS Officer Hiren Chandra Nath Graces North East Public School ✨
Our school had the honour of welcoming distinguished IPS officer Mr. Hiren Chandra Nath, Special Additional Director General of Police (Special Branch & Security), Assam Police and former Deputy Inspector General, CBI, as the Chief Guest at a special school event held in the premises.
The programme was also graced by Mr. Biswajit Das, Chief Editor of Axomiya Khabar along with all the teachers and students of the school.
During the programme, the illustrious career and contributions of Mr. Hiren Chandra Nath were highlighted. A 1996-batch IPS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, Mr. Nath has had a distinguished career spanning policing, intelligence, administration and public service. He is a Gold Medalist in M.A. in Political Science from Gauhati University and holds a Master's degree in Police Management from Osmania University. Before joining the Indian Police Service, he had also served as a lecturer at Cotton College, Guwahati.
Mr. Nath has served in several important positions during his career, including Superintendent of Police in various districts of Assam and Deputy Inspector General in Assam. He also served with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and later as Commissioner of Police, Guwahati City, where he contributed to strengthening law enforcement and tackling organised crime and drug-related activities.
His contribution to intelligence and security has been particularly noteworthy. Having served as the Chief of the Special Branch of Assam Police, he has been associated with important intelligence and security operations. His expertise and experience were further recognised when the Government of Assam re-engaged him after his superannuation.
Mr. Nath's efforts towards strengthening police-public relations through initiatives such as Citizen Committees reflected his belief in trust, transparency and cooperation as essential components of effective policing.
His distinguished service has earned him several prestigious honours, including the President's Police Medal, Police Antarik Suraksha Seva Padak, Special Duty Medal, Police Medal for Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service.
The highlight of the programme was the address by Chief Guest Mr. Hiren Chandra Nath, IPS, who was invited to speak to the young minds and share his valuable experiences and insights.
His presence provided the students with an opportunity to learn from a distinguished public servant whose career embodies discipline, leadership, intellectual excellence and commitment to society.
The interactive session with the students proved to be one of the most engaging highlights of the programme. Mr. Nath responded to each and every question posed by the students with remarkable ease, clarity and simplicity. His approachable manner and insightful responses made the interaction both enriching and inspiring for the young audience.
The session also offered a glimpse into his literary pursuits, as the gathering learnt about his forthcoming publication on the Indian Police Service (IPS). His book is expected to further reflect his extensive experience, knowledge and understanding of policing and public service.
