The Department of Economics, Assam Don Bosco University, successfully conducted its Board of Studies (BoS) Meeting on 18th June, 2026. The meeting brought together board members and faculty to review the curriculum, discuss academic developments, and suggest measures to enhance the quality and relevance of the programmes. The Department expresses its gratitude to all members for their valuable insights and contributions.

Ms. Jyotika Hazarika, Research Scholar, Department of Economics, Assam Don Bosco University, presented her Ph.D. submission seminar on “Strengthening Food Security: A Critical Appraisal of the Public Distribution System in the Selected Districts of Assam” under the supervision of Dr. Ananya Kashyap, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics. The study examines the effectiveness of the Public Distribution System (PDS) in ensuring food security, identifies key implementation challenges, and offers policy recommendations to improve the accessibility, efficiency, and transparency of the system in Assam.

The Department successfully conducted the dissertation presentations of MA 4th Semester students on 8th and 9th May 2026. The presentations provided students with an opportunity to showcase their research findings and engage in academic discussions. The evaluation was carried out by distinguished external experts, namely Dr. Saurabh Chandra, Head of the Department of Public Administration, Assam Don Bosco University, and Dr. Pankaj Kalita and Dr. Zacharias Tirkey, Assistant Professors Department of Public Administration, Assam Don Bosco University. Their valuable insights, constructive feedback, and scholarly observations greatly enriched the academic exercise and contributed to enhancing the quality of students' research work.

The MA 4th Semester students enthusiastically presented their Service Learning Activity projects, showcasing their engagement with communities and their efforts to address real-world social issues through meaningful service. The presentations highlighted valuable field experiences, community interactions, and practical solutions developed through teamwork and academic learning. This activity not only strengthened students' sense of social responsibility and civic engagement but also provided an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to community development, fostering empathy, leadership, and a deeper understanding of societal challenges.

The BA 6th Semester students of the Department of Economics presented their Resource Mapping projects, showcasing a detailed analysis of the natural, human, and infrastructural resources available in selected localities. Through field surveys, data collection, and community interactions, the students identified key resources, assessed their utilization, and highlighted opportunities for sustainable development. The presentations reflected their research skills, teamwork, and understanding of local development issues, while emphasizing the importance of effective resource management for economic growth and community well-being.
