1.Bittu Sahgal, the Editor of Sanctuary Asia and the Founder of the Sanctuary Nature Foundation and the one million strong Kids for Tigers program, is one of India’s strongest and most eloquent voices for nature preservation, climate change mitigation and wildlife conservation. Born in 1947, he has made it his life’s mission to direct world leaders away from short-term development objectives that could compromise the ability of the nation to sustain its population of 1.3 billion people in the decades ahead. He believes that India’s ecological foundation is the bedrock on which the nation's economic foundation sits. He also believes that climate change poses the greatest ever threat to the stability of the Indian nation.
2. Gayatri Raghwa Environment Educational Consultant UNEP. She is gold medallist at the postgraduate degree course in geography, Gayatri took her M.Phil. degree from the Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University, with specialization on ‘The Human Impact on the Environment’. Since then, she has been ardently committed to spreading education and awareness about the environment. She taught for several years at university and high school before devoting 15 years at the Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi, to raise the profile of environment education in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi by strategizing, designing developing and implementing environment education initiatives across all sections of the society. She has travelled widely and has represented the Agency and the UAE in several international conferences and meetings on environment education.
Many of the initiatives that she had helped start and implement at the Agency have received regional and global awards. Few of those initiatives such as Enviro- Spellathon (an eco-literacy initiative) Sustainable Schools and Sustainable Campus Initiatives are still going strong and are now nationally implemented.She has co-authored several publications and resource materials on environmental education. She has received accolades for her efforts to promote Environment Education from across the world. In 1998, she was conferred the Amateur Naturalist Award by the Emirates Natural History Group. In 2018 she received the Outstanding environment educator award in the global category by the North American Association for environment education. (NAAEE)
She currently serves as an Environment Education Consultant for UNEP India office. She coordinates global environment educational programmes implemented by Youth, Education & Advocacy unit of UNEP and also networks with various stakeholders for India specific environment educational initiatives. Currently she is engaged with the implementation of UNEP’s Tide Turner Plastic Challenge which reaches out to youth from schools and colleges across India.She also actively contributes as Global Vice Chair and selection committee member to the Zayed Sustainability Prize (ZSP), and as an adviser to the Global Environment Education Partnership (GEEP). She also serves as an honorary Executive Director at Wildecologue, an organisation that is committed to providing real life sustainability experiences to youth and other target audiences.
3. Pradeep Treepathi,
Founder Green Yatra Nature Mentors
He has created Mumbai’s 1st and largest man made urban dense forest. So far, he and his team has protected and saved over millions of trees and planted over half million trees including 10+ Urban Forests PAN India with 90%+ survival rate. Currently he is dedicated to across India along with & Ecosystem (Air, Water, Soil) Rejuvenation.
He has been awarded Water Hero by Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, Piplantri Environment Award 2021 by Padma Shree Sri Shyam Sunder Paliwal Ji, ESDA Green Leadership Award 2021, 40 under 40 inspirational environmentalist in India by The New Indian Express in 2019, Rex Karmaveer Chakra Award, World CSR Congress: 51 GLOBAL GREEN LEADER, Green Hero by Nargis Dutt Foundation, CWAT, ECOMO and I Love Mumbai and many more.
Pradeep is a new generation Naturepreneur and environmental consultant, working with a dream to make rural India, the economic hub of India. He believes and practices modern technologies and innovation with Indian ancient wisdom and methodologies in the field of agriculture, farming, plantation and agro-farming. He practice chemical Free Plantation, Agriculture and Natural farming e.g. Miyawaki Urban Forestation, all Season Fruits Forest, Backyard Tiny Forest and Multi-Layer Fruits Forest, Cluster & Trench Plantation, Low cost Agroforestry, Urban Farming, Multilayer Natural & Cash crops Farming and Revival of land and Water Bodies. Pradeep is an avid reader, spiritual & motivational speaker, traveller, spiritual/truth seeker. He is a passionate Nature and animal lover and loves to explore art, culture, music and less travelled places.He is trying to make this beautiful Earth sustainable, GREENER and better place to live for all. His all ventures are focused on creating a better and sustainable world.
4. Phuntsog Dolma
Ladakhi botanist Phuntsog Dolma works with the District Sheep Husbandry Department in Leh. She is documenting and studying the wild flora of high-altitude pasturelands, which are critical to both wildlife and human communities. Phuntsog also conducts awareness programs for local residents and engages with livestock breeders to address wildlife conflict issues. Phuntsog is the co-author of Plants of Ladakh, an exquisite field guide published by NCF-India.
5.Prerna Prasad Founder & CEO Ecoplore .She started her career as a TV journalist with CNN-IBN and spent almost 8 years in the corporate media. It was in 2016, when she went on a holiday to Malaysia that the seed of Ecoplore was sown. Ecoplore is a curated marketplace for sustainable hotels & experiences. These eco-hotels maintain a minimum of 33% greenery inside their campus. They offer an unique experience of staying in mud, wood, stone or any local architecture.
The claims of each hotel is verified through personal visits and strict observation by solo woman travellers to ensure safety and comfort for all other travellers. Ecoplore has been featured by United Nations for fulfilling SDG12.
6.Sunil Harsana
Sunil is a resident of the sacred Mangar forest that lies on the outskirts of Delhi in Haryana. He is working relentlessly to enable the long-term protection of this vulnerable forest by generating information about the biodiversity of the area and increasing appreciation for its ecological value amongst urban and rural youth! He has been active in keeping a check on and reporting any illegal activities in the forest of Mangar. In 2021, he also discovered ancient cave paintings in Mangar Bani which attracted the attention of archaeologists and the general public alike and strengthened his demand for notifying this last standing contiguous patch of forest in the Delhi NCR region as a protected area.
7. Vishal Ahuja
A talented musician and sincere community conservationist, Vishal Ahuja is leading a habitat restoration project in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. With the consent of landowners, he is rewilding abandoned orchards and farmlands around the Khajjiar Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary and has even set up a native tree nursery to support this effort. Vishal has been studying the Chamba sacred langur since 2012 under the aegis of the Himalayan Grey Langur Project. Vishal’s rewilding project aims to enable farmer-wild animal coexistence in Chamba valley.
