ABOUT THE TEAM
Team Humanoid ITMU was started by Sulabh Kumra in May 2011 and initiated its first project-"DEXTO:EKA:" under the guidance of Assit Prof. Ramandeep Singh, EECE Department, ITM University. The team was formed to develop an anthropomorphic robot in 10 years, which can perform most of the tasks that a human being can. To achieve the aim of developing such a robot, the team started deve

loping its first humanoid robot - “DEXTO:EKA:”. ABOUT DEXTO:EKA:
Dexto:Eka: is a human-scale tele-operated anthropomorphic robot. "Anthropomorphic" means having a shape like a human and "Tele-operated" means operated from a remote location. This humanoid will have torso with a head, two arms, face, eyes, mouth, ears and lots of sensors. Its upper body will resemble human while its lower body will be wheeled. Like other mechanical robots, humanoid robot refers to the following basic components too - sensing, actuating, planning and control. Since they try to simulate human structure and behavior, generally they are more complex than other kind of robots. It will be created to imitate some of the same physical and mental tasks that humans undergo daily. It will have three modes of operation, i.e. In manual mode, full control will be in the hands of the tele-operator and robot won’t be able to perform any action on its own. In semi-autonomous mode, the control will be still in the hands of the tele-operator but the robot will reject the commands if they are dangerous for survival of the robot. In autonomous mode, the robot will be autonomous and will do live entertainment.

Team Humanoid has already developed Dexto: Eka: which is India’s first Tele-operated Anthropomorphic Robotic System. Dexto:Eka has been presented nationally and internationally in various robotics conferences and events. We are glad to announce that we shortly begin to work on
the second version of Dexto which would be more advanced in all aspects of Dexto.

Team Humanoid ITMU is now looking for students from second and third year to become a part of the team to build a humanoid robot. You would be given the opportunity to work on the project while learning the nuances involved in building a robot.

Interested students are requested to forward the following details to [email protected].
