::::::: Microsoft rolls out more Windows 10 updates as July 29 launch looms ::::::::::

Microsoft announced Windows 10, the new version of its operating system last night — but stayed mostly quiet on the release date. It said that the new software will be out “later this year”, likely to be in spring.

If you’re eager to get hold of the features early, then the technical preview could be the way. You can sign up at Microsoft’s website to be an “insider”, which gives you access to early versions of software.

The latest Windows 10 updates should download automatically as long as you've enabled Automatic Updates. To do so, click the Start button and choose Settings. From the Settings screen, click the category for Update & security. In the Windows Update pane, click the link for Advanced options. And under Advanced Options, make sure the option under Choose how updates are installed is set to Automatic.

इंटरनेट की दुनिया में इन दिनों नेट न्यूट्रलिटी को लेकर कोहराम मचा हुआ है। इंटरनेट यूजर इंटरनेट की आजादी को बचाए रखने के लिए खुलकर सामने आ गए हैं और सरकार, ट्राई व टेलीकॉम कंपनियों पर भड़के हुए हैं। सरकार भी बचाव की मुद्रा में
है और जल्द ही इस मसले का कोई समाधान निकालने की बात कह रही है। ट्राई ने भी उपभोक्ता के हितों को हर हाल में बचाने रखने का आश्वासन दिया है।

क्या है नेट न्यूट्रलिटी

जब कोई भी व्यक्ति किसी ऑपरेटर से डाटा पैक लेता हैं तो उसका अधिकार होता है कि वो नेट सर्फ करे या फिर स्काइप, वाइबर पर वॉयस या वीडियो कॉल करे, जिस पर एक ही दर से शुल्क लगता है। ये शुल्क इस बात पर निर्भर करता है कि उस व्यक्ति ने
इस दौरान कितना डाटा इस्तेमाल किया है। यही नेट न्यूट्रलिटी कहलाती है। उदाहरण से समझें तो आप बिजली का बिल देते हैं और बिजली इस्तेमाल करते हैं। ये बिजली आप कंप्यूटर चलाने में खर्च कर रहे हैं, फ्रिज चलाने में या टीवी चलाने में इससे बिजली
कंपनी का कोई लेना-देना नहीं होता। कंपनी ये नहीं कह सकती कि अगर आप टीवी चलाएंगे तो बिजली के रेट अलग होंगे और फ्रिज चलाएंगे तो अलग। लेकिन अगर नेट न्यूट्रलिटी खत्म हुई तो इंटरनेट डेटा के मामले में ऐसा हो सकता है जबकि पैसा चुकाने के बाद
भी खास एप्लीकेशन का ज्यादा इस्तेमाल करने पर बाध्य होंगे। मतलब 100 एमबी का डाटा आपने सर्फिंग में इस्तेमाल किया तो उसके अलग चार्ज होंगे लेकिन इतना ही डाटा आपने वॉयस या वीडियो कॉल में खर्च किया तो उसके अलग चार्ज चुकाने होंगे जो
स्वाभाविक रूप से ज्यादा होंगे।

क्यों चर्चा में आया नेट न्यूट्रलिटी

टेलीकॉम कंपनियां स्काइप और वाइबर के बढ़ते इस्तेमाल को देखते हुए अब वॉयस ओवर इंटरनेट प्रोटोकॉल यानी वीओआईपी सेवाओं के लिए कस्टमर से अलग से चार्ज लेना चाहती हैं। पहल एयरटेल ने की और वीओआईपी के लिए अलग से चार्ज लगाने की घोषणा की
है जो कि ग्राहकों के मौजूदा डाटा पैक का हिस्सा नहीं होगा। यानी डाटा पैक से आप केवल इंटरनेट सर्फ कर सकते हैं लेकिन स्काइप, वाइबर का इस्तेमाल करने के लिए आपको अलग से शुल्क देना होंगे। एक ही डाटा पैक से नेट सर्फ के लिए अलग शुल्क और
वाइस कॉल के लिए अलग शुल्क की घोषणा करके एयरटेल ने नेट न्यूट्रलिटी को चर्चा में ला दिया है।

====== जानिए क्या है IT Act की धारा 66A =====

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने मंगलवार को सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी कानून की धारा 66A को निरस्त कर दिया है. ऐतिहासिक फैसले सुनाते हुए सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने इस विवादास्पद प्रावधान को असंवैधानिक करार दिया. पहले इस कानून के तहत कथित रूप से अपमानजनक विवरण वेबसाइट्स पर पोस्ट करने पर व्यक्ति को पुलिस गिरफ्तार कर सकती थी.
"SC ने रद्द की IT एक्ट की धारा 66-A"

इस कानून का इस्तेमाल कई बार हुआ है. खासकर इंटरनेट पर आलोचनात्मक व विपरीत राजनीतिक विचारधारा के पोस्ट करने के कारण कइयों को गिरफ्तार किया गया है. हाल ही में उत्तर प्रदेश में 11वीं क्लास के एक छात्र को इसलिए गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया क्योंकि उसने सोशल मीडिया पर एक पोस्ट में सांप्रदायिक वारदातों को आजम खान से जोड़कर बताया था.

आपको बता दें कि आईटी एक्ट को 2000 में पास किया गया था. पर उस वक्त विवादास्पद धारा 66(A) को शामिल नहीं किया गया था. 2008 में इस एक्ट में संशोधन करके धारा 66(A) को जोड़ा गया जो फरवरी 2009 में लागू हो गया.

यह धारा इलेक्टॉनिक डिवाइसेज पर आपत्तिजनक कंटेट पोस्ट करने के संबंध में है. इसके तहत दोषियों को तीन साल की जेल या 5 लाख रुपये का जुर्माना या फिर दोनों का प्रावधान है.

धारा 66A में लिखा है....

"कोई शख्स जो कंम्प्यूटर या फिर कम्युनिकेशन डिवाइस के जरिए भेजता है''

1) कोई भी ऐसी सूचना जो आपत्तिजनक हो या फिर जिसका मकसद चरित्रहनन का हो.

2) कोई भी सूचना जो झूठी है, पर इलेक्टॉनिक डिवाइसेज के जरिए उस सूचना का इस्तेमाल किसी शख्स को परेशान करने, असुविधा पहुंचाने, खतरा पैदा करने, अपमान करने व चोट पहुंचाने के लिए किया जाए.

3) कोई भी इलेक्ट्रॉनिक मेल या इलेक्ट्रॉनिक मैसेज, जिसके जरिए किसी को व्यर्थ परेशान करने या उसके लिए समस्याएं बढ़ाने के लिए किया जाए. तो ऐसा करने वाले शख्स को जेल भेजा जाएगा. दोषी को दो-तीन साल की सजा हो सकती है साथ में जुर्माना भी लगाया जा सकता है.

यदि कोई व्यक्ति ऐसा करते हुए पाया जाता है तो पुलिस उसे 66A के तहत गिरफ्तार कर उसे कोर्ट में पेश कर सकती है. इसके साथ ही उस पर संबंधित मामले में उपयुक्त अन्य धाराएं जोड़ कर भी मुकदमा चला सकती है.

==== Google adds 31 Indian heritage sites to the Google Maps ====

Google has started expanding the reach of its virtual tours on Google Maps. Starting from today, the Search giant will add 31 Indian heritage sites on Google Maps and Google Cultural Institute. This will allow people all over the world to virtually visit these sites and get a panoramic view of the structure and places nearby.

The new 360-degree view will now be available at heritage sites like the Gateway of India, Sun Temple, Mysore Palace, Nalanda University, the Group of Monuments at Pattadakal, and the Thanjavur Temple amongst others. The inclusion of these 31 heritage monuments will take the total count of ASI sites to 127.

Now mobile users can port their numbers from any region of the country. Earlier the numbers that were ported were bound by the range of their respective telecom circle. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued draft regulations to facilitate full mobile number portability, which is set to start from May 3.

Users can search directly for flights on Google or access google.co.in/flights to find, compare and book flights. The service works on mobile devices, tablets and PCs.

The flight search gives users options to search for round trip, one way and multi-city flights. When users click on the departure date field, the service also offers a calendar with the lowest fares for the route highlighted for each day. It also lets users use the lowest fares graph below the calendar to see how prices may fluctuate based on the season, holidays or other events.

After selecting the departure and return dates, users get a list of 'Best flights', which shortlists flights based on the best combination of convenience and price. It lets users view other flights by scrolling through the summary list or selecting, "Show longer or more expensive flights."

NASA develops instrument to measure moisture on Earth’s Soil

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have developed an instrument that is capable to measure moisture on Earth’s Soil with unquestionable accuracy.
The instrument is named ‘Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP)’ and it will be launched on January 29, 2015. This is the fifth NASA Earth Science Mission launched within the last 12 months.

This remote sensing instrument in space has three main parts; a powerful radiometer, a radar and the largest rotating mesh antenna ever deployed in space.

The dish used in this instrument is 19.7 feet in diameter. The sensor in the instrument will help us to procure the most accurate measurement of Earth’s soil moisture.

The moisture in the Earth’s soil plays a crucial role in determining changes in environment, and understanding it in the most accurate manner will surely fetch benign benefits.

Wendy Edelstein, the instrument manager of ‘Soil Moisture Active Passive’ said that launch of instrument demands careful engineering. Edelstein said that the team should ensure that the mesh doesn’t hang up on the supports and tear when it’s deploying. He also added that they have a very stable and robust system now.

The radar in the ‘Soil Moisture Active Passive’ makes use of the antenna to transmit microwaves towards the earth, and receive the signals which will bounce back.

Changes which happen in the electrical properties of the returning microwaves indicate variations in soil moisture. It will also tell us whether the soil is frozen or not.

With the help of Synthetic aperture radar processing, the radar is capable to produce Ultra Sharp images with a resolution of one to three kilometers.

World's Oldest Computer Is Really Old

The Antikythera Mechanism, sometimes called the "world's oldest computer," is even older than previously thought, according to researchers.
The remarkable astronomical mechanism was discovered in 1901 amongst the wreckage of a Greek ship believed to have sunk sometime between 85 B.C. and 60 B.C., near the island of Antikythera between Crete and Greece.
Since its discovery, scholars have marveled at the Antikythera Mechanism, given that its origin appears to predate other devices of equal complexity by as much as a millennium.

"The complex clocklike assembly of bronze gears and display dials predates other known examples of similar technology by more than 1,000 years. It accurately predicted lunar and solar eclipses, as well as solar, lunar and planetary positions," the Times described the ancient mechanism, which measures just about 8 inches across.
Previous estimates placed the mechanism's construction at around 125 B.C., but new research pushes that date back further, to 205 B.C., according to Christián Carman of Argentina's National University of Quilmes and James Evans of the University of Puget Sound.
