"Never Stop Dreaming" (2012)
A MAD volunteer: "I couldn't quite believe that he was standing there saying all these things. It was overwhelming."
You know that cliche about how children grow up too fast? We somewhat experienced it today!
Jobish Matthew was, six years ago, a student in MAD's first ever class, at the first center that MAD ever taught at.
Back in November, Jobish got into theUS State Department's prestigious 'Community College Initiative Program'; a program where those selected get scholarships to attend college in the US for one year in any discipline of their choice.
On the 16th of this month, Jobish will, for the first time in his life, get on a flight and make the journey stateside.
Before he went though, we wanted to see Jobish around one last time. So we organized an interaction at the YMCA Boys' Home, the same center where Jobish used to study and live at a few years back. And who was he visiting? The children who live there now.
Highlight of the day: Jobish telling the rest of the children about possibilities. He said:
"When I used to live here once, I thought I'd never go anywhere. Or achieve anything. But, then again, look where I'm now. All I can tell you is, NEVER stop dreaming. Always have big dreams, and you WILL get somewhere."
The MAD teachers standing around were quite surprised. They hadn't expected to hear something so profound from someone who they had taught only a couple of years back!
These kids! They grow up so fast!
We wish Jobish all the luck, as he pursues his dreams and starts dreaming even bigger.
PS: He told someone today, that he wants to work in the US for some time, and then come back and work in India. With an organization like Make A Difference. For us, Best. Day. EVER!

A village that puts metros to shame! - The Times of India
Think of an Indian village and what comes to mind are images of mooing cows, open drains and children playing ants and frog games.
