So, marketers...you might have studied about the marketing mix and how it can used to better your marketing strategy. You might have also heard about branding such that it becomes the identity of any product. But, the major contribution in any successful brand is its design. How do you design a good product? Why does Apple's product seem so nice and visually pleasing? Why does a Macintosh looks more beautiful than a Windows OS? Did you ever wonder about any of these questions?
Well fear not...Mosaic will try to help you in that...and this might as well be the run up to our next venture...
Dieter Rams. How many of you have heard of him? Well he is the one who came out with “Ten Principles for a Good Design” and which are followed by Apple in designing its every product.
Back in the late 1970s, Dieter Rams was becoming increasingly concerned by the state of the world around him — “an impenetrable confusion of forms, colours and noises.” Aware that he was a significant contributor to that world, he asked himself an important question: is my design good design?
As good design cannot be measured in a finite way he set about expressing the ten most important principles for what he considered was good design. (Sometimes they are referred as the ‘Ten commandments’.) Here they are.
