Making of Modern India
India is hailed as a leader on the world stage, both politically and economically, however at the same time is beset by third-world problems. This contradiction is rooted in events that went into the making of Modern India. The arrival of the Europeans, the 200 years of British rule, the freedom struggle – all have left their mark on today’s India. After independence, the way the British dominion with 500 princely came together to form independent India and the devastating partition, had a lasting effect. Even as the fledgling new democracy took steps to begin consolidating its territory and drafting a Constitution - the events affected India. This interactive and fun workshop will explore the fascinating story of the making of modern India.
