When you play, listen for three things:
🎋 Breath
🎋 Tone
🎋 Pitch

Playing in tune isn’t just about knowing the right note.
It’s about learning to hear where the note sits.

Play your Sa against the tanpura. Listen closely. Make a small adjustment. Then play it again.

Over time, your ear starts doing the work before you even think about it.

That’s where riyaaz becomes musical. 🎋

DON’T JUST PLAY SA. LISTEN TO IT. 🎵

One of the biggest shifts in learning bansuri happens when you stop thinking only about playing the note and start learning to hear it.

Before you move to Re, Ga or higher notes, spend time with Sa.

Listen to its pitch.

Feel its stability.

Notice when your breath makes it waver.

Then try to reproduce exactly what you hear.

This is where riyaaz becomes more than just repetition.
You’re not only training your fingers.
You’re training your ear.

And slowly, the flute starts sounding less like an instrument you're trying to control—and more like a voice you're learning to understand. 🌿

Long notes are not about simply holding your breath for as long as possible.

A good long note comes from steady breath, relaxed control and consistency. 🎋

If you’re learning bansuri, don’t make duration the goal. First learn to produce a clean, stable tone — then gradually work on sustaining it.

Even a short note can sound beautiful when it is controlled.
