An addition to the ARCE library..."Arnold Bake: a life with South Asian music" by Bob van der Linden. A great resource for all of us who have some or all of his collection, one that is used often due to its breadth and scope..and all those who are working with his collection, in India and elsewhere.

The AV Technical Officer should be able to hold independent charge of the AV Lab and oversee the Listening Room of the ARCE. The AV Laboratory has analog playback equipment of a range of formats and A to D converters.
The primary focus is on the digitizing of analog recordings, transferring them to archive standard formats, managing the digital assets, maintaining the digital and analog repository and assisting in all connected areas. Experience in digitization of audio is mandatory and digitization of video will be considered an asset.
This needs familiarity with analog equipment, such as reel and audio cassette, VHS recorders, and being able to maintain the equipment on a basic level. Candidates are expected to have training or experience in sound recording as the collections of audio recordings form the core of the collections. The candidate should be able to handle audio reel, cassette, DAT and other audio formats.
