*Event on Education for Sustainable Development at the POP Festival 2020 on December 5, 2020*
Goal 12 on sustainable consumption and production of the sustainable development goals (SDGs), under the Global Indicator Framework for Target 12.8, explicitly recognizes Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) as being key for achieving global progress on SDGs. Towards this, the Environmental Education and Awareness division at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) at the _Second International Conference and POP Festival for Youth-Led Climate Action_ , _*which is scheduled to take place from December 1-5, 2020 is bringing together 58 partners from 61 countries.*_ * 2020* is an inter-generational platform which seeks to give voices to youth, policy leaders and indigenous communities. Some of the speakers for this year include H.E. Dr. Rosalía Arteaga, Former President of Ecuador; Mr Nitin Desai, Chairman, The Energy and Resources Institute; Ms. Xiye Bastida, Fridays for Future, New York City; Camila González Colistro, Fridays For Future, México; Mary Robinson, Chair of The Elders; Petteri Taalas, Secretary-General, World Meteorological Organization; H.E. Mami Mizutori, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) for Disaster Risk Reduction; His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco; H.E. José Ramos-Horta, Former President of East Timor and 1996 Nobel Peace Prize Winner; and Dr. Erik Solheim, Patron, WSDF and Former Executive Director, UNEP.
Please join us for the session on “Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Approaches for Youth Empowerment”. The session aims to bring together like minded organizations on a platform to explain the myriad forms of education adopted for enriching young minds and transforming individuals to be responsible actors who can resolve challenges, respect cultural diversity and contribute to creating a more just society.
