ACICS loses accrediting powers- Over 200 US Universities under this get effected. Please read the full briefing.

Note : This post is published to educate people what exactly happened regarding the decision . And to request people not to create confusion among student and parents.

A recent announcement by Department Of Education in US has effected over 200 universities, which lost their accreditation. The decision taken by the department to withdraw ACICS’s recognition as a nationally recognized accreditation agency raises alarm against the universities under this recognition.
There were few series of event that took place after the decision is made. But at present the students who completed their MS and are with OPT status will be getting OPT time of 12 months only. And those students who are pursing their MS are left with other options to think about.
Sep’22 – Department of Education has come up with the decision to withdraw the recognition of ACICS.
Dec-12- Department of Education denies the appeal of ACICS regarding the decision.
Dec’15 – ACICS approaches Federal court for Temporary restraining order of the decision.
Dec’19 - Federal District Court Judge Denies ACICS Temporary Restraining Order to Immediately Halt Implementation of Department of Education Decision; ACICS’ Motion for a Preliminary Injunction To Be Heard on February 1, 2017 at 9:30 a.m.
The news reporting agencies expect around 16000 Indian students studying in these universities are effected by this decision based on their present status in US. And we request such students to look alternates in the meantime. As the federal court hearing is yet to take place on Feb 1st. Please don’t look at assumptions made by several people around. I personally believe ACICS will make their best efforts to safeguard the future of students.
