Women’s Day Celebration 2026 – AACEG

The Alumni Association of the College of Engineering, Guindy (AACEG), in association with various academic and professional bodies including IEEE GRSS, ISG, and the Department of Civil Engineering, organized a special International Women’s Day Celebration titled “Empower. Inspire. Transform.” on Monday, 9 March 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the AACEG Auditorium, College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, Chennai.

The program was graced by Dr. G. Vanitha/ Ms. Yasmin, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Against Women and Children, Greater Chennai City, who attended as the Chief Guest. She delivered an inspiring address highlighting the importance of women’s safety, leadership, and resilience in today’s society.

The Distinguished Guests included Dr. Jamila Rose, M.D., Professor and Head of the Department of Pathology at Kilpauk Medical College, and Dr. Tamilmani Thirunarayanan, Chief Senior Civil Surgeon and Blood Bank Medical Officer at Government Hospital, Royapettah. They shared their experiences and insights on women’s leadership, professional excellence, and the importance of perseverance.

The event also honored several accomplished women as Guests of Honour, including:

Radha Srinivasan, CSR Consultant and Ex-Nora International Foundation

Vidya Shankar Chakravarthy, educationist and entrepreneur associated with the Child Rights Law and Teaching Trust and EdLife Foundation

Dr. Shalini K. MBBS, MS (OG), Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Stanley Government Medical College, Chennai

Er. Subhadra Priyadarshini, Founder of Choc of the Town and Co-founder of Untangle Puzzles & Board Games Café, Chennai

Their inspiring journeys showcased the diverse ways in which women contribute to society and lead transformative initiatives.

The program was conducted in the presence of Er. M. Saravanan (President, AACEG), Er. V. P. Premkumar (Secretary, AACEG), Er. R Humayun Kabir (Treasurer, AACEG) and Er. Aparna Jegannathan (Convener, AACEG), along with Dr. P. Hariharan (Dean CEG), Dr. S. Kanmani, Dr. R. Vidhya, Dr. S. Jayalakshmi, Dr. R. Kannmani Shanmuga Priya, Dr. K. Srinivasa Raju.
