The world is slowly seeing the move towards pre-pandemic normalcy. While some companies intend to bring all workers back to an office, others are opting for a hybrid model.
The pandemic gave workers the time and space to contemplate what they valued in a workplace with many utilizing the flexibility of working from anywhere. However, if options are given to employees, some may choose to work out of the office while others might go for the hybrid system.
Employees in the office are more visible so the chances of their advancement could be slightly better than the ones who are working remotely, provided both are churning out the same quantity and quality of work. It is thus important that managers and leaders are truly accessible to the entire workforce and checking in with reports regularly will help mitigate competition for attention. When everyone is seen and heard, promotions are more easily given to those who meet their objectives and not simply those who have the most face time with leaders.
Hybrid work can promote work-life balance with reduced commute times and less stress. A 2021 Gartner report highlighted the importance of leaders explicitly telling their employees about the signs of burnout, including exhaustion, poor sleep, physical aches and pains, and negative feelings about work.
There are clear benefits of the hybrid solution, such as extending (perhaps, for good) the reach of an organization’s potential talent pool. But there are also quickly emerging challenges, particularly since this is new territory for many. Now is a good time to consider the pros and cons and determine the best long-term direction and strategies for employees and teams alike.

People often say that they find it hard to make decisions.
Unfortunately we all have to make decisions all the time, ranging from trivial issues like what to have for lunch, right up to life-changing decisions like where and what to study, and who to marry.
When making a decision, we form opinions and choose actions via mental processes which are influenced by biases, reason, emotions, and memories. The simple act of deciding supports the notion that we have free will.
When embarking on a formal decision-making process, many businesses turn to tools and techniques to help leaders organize their thoughts and arrive at the best decision for their organization.
Our daily life decisions give us opportunities to become better at what we do. Most of our decisions are made out of habit. However, by bringing our choices in the conscious domain, we can evaluate them, assess their impact and indulge in self-reflection. Such steps eventually lead to better decisions and outcomes.

“When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It’s to enjoy each step along the way.” ~Wayne Dyer
Much of the time by many is spent being busy which does not necessarily equate to productivity or joy. One needs to put in hours to perform their work and duties, but many keep themselves busy needlessly for long, forgetting about other aspects of life. Intention and implementation in the pursuit of excellence lead to being productive and joyous, however, if many hours at work are spent for validation from others and proving a point then this rat race will leave you unfulfilled as this benchmark of success does not allow you to even enjoy the materialistic achievements acquired.
❓Ask yourself:
Are you busy in pursuit of excellence OR Are you busy running a rat race?
