My Favourite Tourist Destination
Darjeeling
Introduction: It is brief overview that highlights the main features, attractions and cultural significance of a place. My favourite place is Darjeeling. It is in West Bengal of India. It is one of the best tourist places of the world.

Best time to visit: The best time to visit Darjeeling is winter, one can visit there September to April. The places and things to be seen in Darjeeling are: Chowrasta, Batasia Loop, Rock Garden, Zoo, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Monastery, Ropeway travelling, Toy train joy ride ,Museum and Sunrise. One can have snow bath in Sandakphu that receives snowfall from December till February. Thousands of tourists visit Darjeeling throughout the year.

Conclusion: Darjeeling is a hillstation. It attracts the tourists of the world.It is our duty to preserve the beauty of Darjeeling

Place of Historical Importance
Shree Surya Pahar

Introduction: The historical place gives us the information of a place about the past event which is related to history. Shree Surya Pahar is one of the historical places in India which is in Goalpara, Assam.
Historical Importance: The Shree Surya Pahar is 12 km far to the south from Goalpara town. There are many temples and Shiva lingas (ge***al part of Lord Shiva). The Chinese traveller Hiuen Tsang mentioned about it while visiting the place. It is believed that those Shiva Lingas were engraved by Ved Vyasa.
Conclusion :This place is a shrine where thousands of pilgrims visit daily. People go there for a picnic too .Let's protect the place for the historical interest.

Memories of Childhood. 5 Marks
This is the story of two girls. The 'Memories of Childhood' tells about discrimination of two girls.One is Indian Tamil and the other one is American native. Both of them belong to different cultures but they are the victims of caste discrimination. The American woman is Zitkala-Sa and the Indian woman is Bama.
The Americans treat Zitkala-Sa with a sense of superiority. On the other hand, Bama experiences caste discrimination. She sees a person carrying a packet on a string so that he cannot touch that. Zitkala-Sa has long hair, but she is forced to get it cut and make it short.

In this story, both the American and Indian girls appear as the victims of social discrimination. Both of them dare to protest it. In every field, both Bama and Zitkala-Sa face problems. In school life, Zitkala wears a shawl, but it is also taken away as it is not the rule of the school. Everyone has to wear tight-fitting clothes.

The story tells about the dissatisfaction of untouchability and discrimination. This autobiographical account revolves around oppression, struggle, discrimination, and identity in the present communities.

1)What advice did Annan offer Bama?
Ans: Annan advised Bama to study hard and stand first in the class since they are from lower caste, opportunities are not available. Education is the only way to overcome caste discrimination.

2)Why is Zitkala-Sa uncomfortable in the dining room?
Ans: Zitkala-Sa is uncomfortable in the dining room because of strict and unfamiliar western rules in the school; she cannot understand what to do and what not to do.

3)Why was Annan not amused by Bama's story?
Ans: Annan was not amused by Bama's story because it was a tragic example of untouchability and caste discrimination rather than funny.

4)What was Zitkala's idea regarding short shingled hair?
Ans: According to Zitkala's idea, short shingled hair is the sign of cowardice, defeat and cultural humiliation.
5)Why did it take Bama to reach home in thirty minutes instead of 10 minutes?
Ans:It took Bams to reach home more than the usual time. She was busy at watching many interesting sights and activities along the way.It took 30 minutes to reach home.
6) Which Words of her brother made deep impression on Bama?
Ans: Bama's brother said that they were born in the lower caste community. People did not pay respect and honour. They were not allowed to deal with other people who are from higher caste.This made Bama a deep impression.

The Two School Boys and a Man

There lived an old man in a village. One day as he was crossing a road a speedy car hit him. Luckily he was escaped. But the man was injured grievously. People gathered around him in a great number. They showed sympathy only. No one came forward to help him. They only spoke about reckless driving. The two school boys arrived there and saw the man in such condition. They called an ambulance and sent the injured man to the nearest hospital for treatment.

The Lion and a Rabbit

There lived a lion in a jungle. It killed the animals at random. One day the animals had a meeting and decided to send one animal each day to be the lion's meal. It was a rabbit's turn. It made a plan to deceive the lion. He went late. On the other side the lion was angry with the animals for being late. The rabbit told the lion that there was a bigger lion in the well. He prevented him to come. On hearing this the lion got angry and went to the well. He saw his own reflection, got angry and jumped into the well. He drowned and died.

The Two Friends and a Bear

One day in the evening time two boys went to a nearby jungle for a walk. Suddenly a bear appeared before them. They did not know what to do. One of them was very clever. He quickly climbed up a tree but the second boy was at a loss. He lied down on the ground like a dead body. The bear came near and sniffed the boy from foot to head. The boy stopped breathing. The bear thought that he was dead. So, without any harm the bear left the place. The boy who was on the tree climbed down and asked his friend what the bear had said. He said, 'Don't believe in such a friend who leaves one in danger.'

A Hungry Fox and Grapevine

A hungry fox once saw a vineyard. Seeing the grapevine, his mouth began to water. He wanted to eat ripe grapes. But the grapes were hanging high. He could not pluck them. He jumped for many times to get the ripe grapes. At last he gave up eating them. When he could not have those grapes he said that they were sour and did not want to eat them. He left the place angrily without satisfying his hunger.

The Hare and a Tortoise

There lived a tortoise and a hare near a pond. One day, they decided to run a race to prove who could run faster. They fixed a reaching place. Both the hare and the tortoise started running. The hare ran as fast as he could. The tortoise moved slowly. The hare felt tired of running, so he sat under a tall tree. The cool air was blowing, and suddenly he fell asleep.

The tortoise was moving slowly and reached the destination. The hare woke up and started running, but he was too late to win the race.

A Thirsty Crow

There lived a crow in a jungle. She was very thirsty. It was summer season. All the rivers, ponds, and lakes were dry. So, she flew towards a village in search of water. She found a pitcher in the courtyard with a little water at the bottom.

She saw some pebbles near the pitcher. An idea came to her mind. She picked the pebbles one by one and dropped them into the pitcher. The water level came up. The crow satisfied its thirst and flew away happily towards her habitat.

The Cunning Fox and a Crow

Once a crow lived in a jungle. One day it found a piece of meat. It flew towards a tall tree and was about to eat meat. In the meantime a cunning fox appeared before it. The fox saw the crow with a piece of meat in its beak. He wanted to have it. So, started to praise her and requested to sing a song for him. The foolish crow did not know the trick of the fox. So, it opened its mouth to sing a song. The piece of meat fell to the ground. The fox ate meat and went away happily.

The Twelve Fools

Once there lived twelve foolish people in a village. One day they decided to go on a journey. On the way they had to cross a deep river. After crossing the river they counted themselves turn by turn. Each time they counted eleven only. They thought one of them was missing. So, began to cry. One man was passing nearby. He asked them about the problem. They told him the story. The man gave them blow nicely. They counted twelve. The man moved away from there. The foolish people also were happy.
