On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, a third-year BCA student of ITM GIDA, Gorakhpur(UP), along with the college Innovation Team, developed an innovative "Solar Tree Care & Protection System" aimed at safeguarding trees and promoting environmental sustainability.
The smart device can detect attempts at illegal tree cutting and instantly send a location-based alert to forest department officials. Equipped with a solar-powered air filtration system, it helps reduce air pollution by filtering contaminated air and releasing cleaner air into the environment.
The system also includes a water-mist mechanism that maintains moisture around trees during extreme heat, helping prevent plant dehydration and improving tree health. Designed using solar panels, batteries, air filters, high-speed fans, water-mist sensors, and SOS Bluetooth modules, the device offers a sustainable and practical solution for tree conservation.
Developed in just seven days, this innovation demonstrates how technology can be leveraged to protect nature and create a greener future.
